Breaking Routines

-Flying over the Italian Alps

25 year marker. Is it important to mark marriage moments? Some of my friends would say maybe a mild marker would be fine. Like a fancy dinner at an elegant getaway. And honestly, this would be my response too. Why? Because I don't like leaving my Cul de Sac, comfort zone, community, friends, family, familiarity, but...I'm partnered with someone who rejects and can be repelled by routine and who loves travel, exploration, adventure, change. Me, on the other hand, I have my triangle of safety at home that I hat to leave, Here's the triangle-- the college where i teach, from my home, a right, a left. a right, a left, then I am at my gym on the way home, the opposite turns are all toward home; my favorite grocery store, my favorite places to meet friends for lunch--yes they are all along the same path I always drive! And oh, another silly safety thing about me: when I walk in my hood- I always walk along the same streets and I love to watch the Bourne Identity, Mat Damon,  series over and over and over again--do I not seem like someone who thrives in routine? And my nightly foot rub with my vanilla grape shea buuter..ahhhhh. A great day for me. Simple, safe, routine--this is how I feel safe; not flying 12,000 miles away from ALL my routines!
